platformsandchecksmadetoclimbthewalls.

AnycharacterwhosucceedsonaDC 15 Intelligence(Arcana)
checkrealizesthatthestatuedepictsanycaloth.Adetect
magicspellorsimilareffectrevealsaurasoftransmutation
magicradiatingfromthestatue’sclenchedfists.
Thestatueweighs 15 , 000 poundsandisimperviousto
damageandspells.Castingaknockspellonthestatuecauses
oneofitsfiststounclenchfor 1 round,duringwhichtimethe
objectinthathandcanbesafelyremoved.

eyeballinitslefthandandasimilarlysizedscarletcrystal

38 A.ControlRoom


Thisroomisdarkanddusty.Ahulkingfigurewearinga
buckethelmstandstothewest,withonehandonan
ironleversetintothewall.Thesouthwallisslopedand
hasalargerectangularwindowfivefeetwidebyseven
feethigh.Thewindowlooksintoahallway,througha
rectangularholeinthehallwayfloor,andfartherdown
intoawell-litroomshapedlikeacylindertippedonits
side.
Thehelmedfigureisatombguardian:afleshgolemclad
inplatearmor(AC 17 ).Itstaskistopulltheleverwhenitsees
adventurersenterarea 38 C.Thetombguardianfightsonlyin
self-defenseandhasordersfromWitherstonotleavethe
controlroom.Ifitgoesberserk,itignorestheseorders.
Window.Thewindowinthesouthwallisstonemagically
renderedtransparentfromthissideonly.Asuccessfuldispel
magic(DC 17 )castonthestonecausesittoloseits
transparency.Ifthetombguardianispreventedfromseeing
intoareas 38 Band 38 C,itwon’tpullthelever.
IronLever.Theleverprotrudesfromaverticalslotcut
intothenorthwestwall.Itrestsintheupposition.Pullingthe
leverdownactivatesthetrapinarea 38 C.

38 B.AccessTunnel


Thishallwayis 10 feethighand 5 feetwide.Ifthecharacters
enterthehallthroughthecrawlwaysfromareas 30 or 37 ,read:
Thewallsofthisnarrowtunnelslopeinwardasthey
approachtheten-foot-highceiling.Patchesofmold
clingtothewallsandfloorintheeasternhalfofthehall.
Cutintotheflooratthewestendofthecorridorisa
three-foot-wide,four-foot-longrectangularholewith
brightlightspillingoutofit.

Anycharacterstandingnexttotheholecanpeerdowninto
acylindricalroom(area 38 C),thecurvedfloorofwhichis 15
feetbelowthehole.
Thewallnorthoftheholeactsasaone-waywindow,butit
appearsnodifferentfromtherestofthetunnelfromthisside.
Creaturesinarea 38 Acanseeintothistunnel,butcreaturesin
thetunnelcan’tseeintoarea 38 A.Spellssuchasdetectmagic
andtrueseeingdonotrevealthewindowfromthisside.

38 C.RevolvingDrum


Thecharacterscanenterthisroomthroughthe
rectangularholeintheceiling(area 38 B)orthroughastone
doorinthesouthwall.
Thisroomisshapedlikeadrumorcylinderlyingonits
side,withitssouthendtaperingtowardasmallstone
door.Carvingsofdemonsdecoratethestonework,with
flickeringflamesinalltheireyes.

Theflickeringflameswerecreatedbycontinualflame
spells,whichfilltheroomwithbrightlight.
Whentheleverinarea 38 Aispulled,threehiddenlocks
sealthesouthdoor,awallofstonespellblockstherectangular
holeintheceiling(cuttingoffescapetoarea 38 B),andthe
roombeginsrevolving.Whenthathappens,allcreatures
presentshouldrollinitiative.
Anycreaturethatisnotfirmlyattachedtoawall,flying,or
undertheeffectofagaseousformspellorsimilarmagicis
knockedabouttherevolvingroom.Thecreaturemustmakea
