Ifanyoftheseactionsareperformedincorrectly,three
wraithsrisefromthebonesonthefloor.Thewraithsattack
untiltheyaredestroyedandpursueanycharacterswhoflee
thisarea.Whenthewraithsappear,anycharacterwearingone
ofthefrogmasksispolymorphedintoafrog,asthoughithad
failedasavingthrowagainstthepolymorphspell.


Sarcophagus


Kubazan’ssarcophagusisbereftofadornment,thoughadetect
magicspellorsimilareffectrevealsaurasofabjurationand
evocationmagicaroundit.
Whentheritualisperformedcorrectly,thesarcophaguslid
unlocksandslidesopen.Itcontainsthebonesofafroghemoth
(Kubazan’sanimalform;seeappendixD)aswellassome
valuableitems(see“Treasure”below).Thesarcophaguslidis
otherwisesealedshutwithanarcanelockspell.Itcanbe
openedwithaknockspellorforcedopenwithasuccessfulDC
25 Strength(Athletics)check.However,ifthesarcophagusis
openedbyanymeansotherthantheritual,aprismaticspray
spell(saveDC 19 )eruptsfromthewallbehindthe
sarcophagus.Allcreaturesintheroom,aswellascreaturesin
thenarrowhallwaytothesouth,becometargetsofthespell.


Treasure


Thesarcophaguscontainsapairofbracersofarcheryand
twentybrittlearrowsinarottingleatherquiver.Eacharrow
shattersonimpactanddealsonly 1 piercingdamageonahit.
Carvingsoffroghemothsadornthebracers,whichkeepthe
skinofanycharacterattunedtothemdisturbinglymoist.The
bracersturntodustandaredestroyediftheyleavetheTomb
oftheNineGods(butsee"LostTreasures").
Kubazan’sSpirit.ThespiritofKubazantriestoinhabit
anycharacterwhotoucheseitherofthebracers(see"Spiritsof
theNineTricksterGods").WhenKubazan’sspiritmanifests,
read:


Thebracersglowaswaterylightripplesacrossthewalls.
Amonstrous,tentacledshadowrisesfromthe
sarcophagus,andtheairfillswiththestenchofa
swamp.Arumblingvoiceechoesthroughthetomb:
“Youarebravetosummonme.Together,wewillcrush
theundyingone!”
Ifthespiritsuccessfullyinhabitsthecharacter,givethe
playerKubazan’scard(seeappendixF).Iftheattemptfails,the
spiritreturnstothebracersandwaitsforanothercharacterto
touchoneofthem.

Thisroomliesbeyondadoubledoor,theoutsideofwhichis
carvedwithleeringandlaughingskulls.Thedoorsareneither
lockednortrapped,andtheyswinginwardonrustyhingesto
revealtheroombeyond.


Tenfeetfromthedoors,athicktapestrycurtainhangs
fromwalltowall.Itsembroideryshowsasceneof
merriment:noblesfeastingaroundabanquettable,a
roastboaronaplatter,andservantspouringwine.

Twomorecurtainshangbeyondthefirst,eachshowing
thesameimagedescendingintohorror.Whenthesecond
curtainisrevealed,read:


Anothercurtainhangsbehindthefirst,showingthe
samescenebutdescendedintodepravity.Thenobles
fightwitheachother,partakeincarnalencounterson
thetable,orsprawlonthefloorinpuddlesofvomit.

Behindthesecondcurtainisathird:
Asceneofhorrorconfrontsyou:noblesfeastingon
servants,eatingeachotheralive,andsettingfiretothe
hall.Theroastboarisaliveandlaughingonitsplatter.
Adetectmagicspellorsimilareffectrevealsanauraof
enchantmentmagicradiatingfromthethirdcurtain.Any
creaturethatlooksatthiscurtainmustsucceedonaDC 14
Wisdomsavingthroworbefrightenedofit.Afrightened
creaturetriestoleavetheroomasquicklyaspossibleand
cannotreenter.Onceoutsidetheroom,acreaturecanrepeat
thesavingthrowattheendofeachofitsturns,endingthe
effectonitselfonasuccess.Acreaturethatsavesagainstthis
effectisunaffectedbythecurtainthereafterandcanreenter
theroom.

LordoftheFeast


Whenthefinaltapestrycurtainispulledaside,thedreaded
LordoftheFeastconfrontsthecharacters:

Therottingheadofagiantboarismountedtothewall
behindthefinalcurtain.Freshbloodandgorespatters
itstusks,dribblingdownthewallbeneathit.
Anyhumanoidthatcanseetheseveredboar’sheadmust
succeedonaDC 16 Wisdomsavingthroworbecharmedbyit.
Onitsturn,acharmedcreaturedoesnothingexceptapproach
theseveredheadandputitsownheadintheboar’smouth.
Onlyoneheadcanfitinthemouthatatime.Iftheboar’s
mouthisalreadyfull,acharmedcreaturewaitspatientlyuntil
themouthisclear.Anycreaturethatendsitsturnwithits
headintheboar’smouthtakes 22 ( 4 d 10 )slashingdamageas
theboar’sjawsclampdown.Ifthisdamagereducesthe
creatureto 0 hitpoints,itisdecapitated.Acharmedcreature
canrepeatthesavingthroweachtimeittakesdamage,ending
theeffectonitselfonasuccess.Onceacreaturesuccessfully
savesagainstthiseffect,itcannotbeaffectedbytheboar’s
headfor 24 hours.
DestroyingtheLordoftheFeastendsitscharmeffecton
allcreatures.Theboar’sheadisaMediumobjectwithAC 5
and 22 hitpoints.
