Aftertenfeet,thisdustycorridorbecomesastaircase
thatdescendsfifteenfeettoalowertunnel.Restingon
theflooratthebottomofthestaircaseisanoldtreasure
chestwitharustybuilt-inlock.Justbeyondthechest,
thetunnelopensuptoahuge,darkchamber.
Thechest(area 54 A)isthetriggerforatrap.Whenthe
chestoritslidislifted,aheavystoneball(area 54 B)tumbles
downthestairs.Adventurersfleeingthestoneballstumble
intoahiddenpit(area 54 C).

ThelockonthechestcanbepickedwithasuccessfulDC 10
Dexteritycheckmadeusingthieves’tools.Withinthechestis
aninvisiblekey, 3 incheslongandmadeofbrass.Any
characterwhomanuallysearchesinsidethechestfeelsthekey,
whichunlockstheclockinarea 56.
Ifthechestissmashedbythegraniteball(seebelow),the
invisiblekeyislostinthewreckagebutcanbefoundwitha
successfulDC 15 Wisdom(Perception)check.
Adetectmagicspellorsimilareffectalsorevealsthe
presenceofthekey,eitherinthechestoramongthewreckage.
Asuccessfuldispelmagic(DC 14 )castonthekeyrendersit
visible.

A 5 - foot-diametersphereofsolidgranitebalanceswithina
secretcompartmentatthetopofthestairs.Findingthe
compartmentrequiresthatacharactersearchthetunnel
ceilingandsucceedonaDC 15 Wisdom(Perception)check.
Thehatchcanbejammedwithanironspikeorwitha
successfulDC 20 Dexteritycheckmadeusingthieves’tools.
Whenreleased,thestoneballthundersdownthestairs
andtumblesintothepitat 54 C.Anycharacteronthestairsor
inthetunnelbelowcanstayaheadoftheballbyrunning
towardthepit.Acharactercanalsoleapovertheballwitha
successfulDC 15 Dexterity(Acrobatics)check.Anycharacter
whofailsthecheckorcan’tmoveoutoftheball’swayisstruck
for 22 ( 4 d 10 )bludgeoningdamageandknockedprone.The
ballalsoflattensthetreasurechest( 54 A)asittumbles
through.

Thewallsofthis 10 - foot-deeppitarelinedwiththickglass,
andthepitisfilledwithgreenacidtoadepthof 5 feet.The
pit’slidiscraftedofinterlockingstonetilesthatfallapart
beneath 100 poundsormoreofweight.Anycharacterwho
searchesthefloornoticestheunusualstoneworkandsmells
theacidbelowwithasuccessfulDC 13 Wisdom(Perception)
check.
Acreatureintheareaofthepitwhenthefloorcollapses
canavoidafallandgrabtheedgeofthepitwithasuccessful
DC 15 Dexteritysavingthrow.Thesavingthrowismadewith
disadvantageifthecharacterwasunawareofthepit.Any
creaturethatenterstheacidforthefirsttimeonaturnor
startsitsturntheretakes 66 ( 12 d 10 )aciddamage.Thewalls
ofthepitaretoosmoothtoclimbwithouttheaidofmagicor
climbinggear.
Thepit’sacidcanbesafelycontainedinglassvialsifthe
charactershaveanyathand,andcanthenbeusedastheacid

Thewallsofthetombarelinedwithsecretdoorsthatslide
opentorevealchambersstrewnwithminotaurbones—ten
chambersinall.Oneofthesechambershasahallwayatthe
backofitleadingtoarea 56.

Maze


Whenthewallcarvingisexamined,read:
Theintricatecarvingshiftsbeforeyoureyes,its
configurationever-changing.Themazehasnoexits,and
itscorridorsarelitbytinytorchesandcloudedbyfog.
Anynon-undeadcreaturethattouchesthewallcarving
vanishesandreappearsinademiplanarmaze,the
configurationofwhichmatchesthatofthecarving.Thefirst
timethishappens,allthesecretdoorsslideopenasthe
minotaurbonesknittogether,formingtenminotaur
skeletonsthatemergefromtheirchambersandattackanyone
inthetomb.Allcreaturespresentshouldrollinitiative,
includinganyonetrappedinthemaze.Thekeystoopen
Unkh’ssarcophagusarehiddeninthemaze.
