massivereliefcarvingofacrossedhammerandtongs.

Hrakhamartosmeltironandadamantine,whichtheylowered
intothemagmainclaycrucibles.


Acavernofmoltenmagmabubblesandflamesbefore
you.Thecavernwallsarelinedwithmetalgantriesand
cranesthatsupportimmensecruciblesofscorchedclay.

Hugechainsstretchacrossthecavern,apparentlyto
shuttlemulti-tonbucketsoforeacrossthelava.The
heattakesyourbreathaway,bringswatertoyoureyes,
andbakesyourskin.Fromwhereyoustand,theonly
obviouswayacrossisviaanarrowstonetrestlebuiltfor
railcarts.Thesoundofrhythmichammeringcomes
fromsomewherebeyondthemagmarift.
Themagmais 10 feetbelowthelevelofthegantriesand
therailcarttrestles.Greatchainsspantheriftintwoplaces,
allowingoretobehoistedacrossinbuckets.
There’snodangeroffallingifcharacterscrossthemagma
ononeofthetworailcarttrestles.AsuccessfulDC 10 Strength
(Athletics)checkisneededtocrosshand-over-handalongone
ofthechainconveyors.Onafailedcheck,thecharacterfalls
intothemagma.Acreaturethatfallsinthemagmaorstartsits
turntheretakes 55 ( 10 d 10 )firedamage.

Thehammeringsoundgrowslouder,butit’snot
comingfromthechamberahead.Thisenormous,
rectangularchamberisaworkingsmelter.Arectangular
pitinthecenteroftheroomisfilledwithmolteniron.
Sixdevicesofdwarvendesignandmake,arranged
aroundthepit,siphonofftheliquidmetalanddrawout
theimpurities.Asmallerpoolinthesoutheastcorner
holdswhatappearstobemoltensilver.
Creaturesthatlooklikeamixofhumanoidamphibians
andelementalfirearetendingtothemachines.Sofar,
theyhaven’tnoticedyou.
