flowslikeaglowingriverdownintothisbay.Thesulfurous
waterispoisonous,somostofthebay’ssealifeisdeadandthe
surroundingshoreisbarren.Safelandingspotscanstillbe
foundonthebeachesalongthewesternshore,butasailing
shipthatcruisesalongtheeasternshorenearShilkuislikely
toloseitssails—andpossiblymuchmore—tothered-hot
stonesthatinfrequentlyraindownfromtheskyortothe
burningashthatdriftsmilesoutintothebaybeforefinally
extinguishingitselfinthestinking,hissingwater.
SnappingTurtleBay
Thisbayisbeautifulbeyondcompare.Thoughtheskyisdark
withcloudsofsmokeandashstreakedwithlightning,the
whitesandbeaches,lushforests,brightcoralreefs,and
colorfulwildlifemakethisarestfulretreatfromthehorrorsof
Chult.Theshoreisnotwithoutitsdangers,buteventheyare
invitingandwondroustobehold.Tri-flowerfronds,mantraps,
andjaculisarecommon,asarethefierceandaggressivegiant
snappingturtlesthatgivethebayitsname.SeeappendixDfor
moreinformationonthesecreatures.
Cyclopesroamtheshoreandlairinmountaincaves
overlookingthebay.Thesesimplecreaturesaren’tinherently
hostile,buttheyaresuspiciousandwaryaroundnewcomers.
Anyshowofmaliciousintentonthepartofstrangersis
enoughtoshiftthecyclopesfromcautioustohostile.Theyare
expertsatsurvivingthedangersofSnappingTurtleBay,which
makesthemvaluablealliesifcharactersofferthemsomething
theywant.Thecyclopesalwaysneedmetaltools(shortswords
makedandydaggers),andthey’redelightedbywhimsical
magicaltrinkets.Forgenerousinducements,cyclopescould
evenbehiredtoserveasbearers,guards,orguidesforan
expeditionheadednorthintotheimmensejunglebetweenthe
PeaksofFlameandtheValleyofDread.

driftingash.FieryembersbelchedfromthePeaksofFlame
driftacrosstheskyandfalllikerainontoablackened
wasteland.Themarshlandnorthofthelakeiswetenoughto
survive,buttheaccumulationofashatopthewaterhasturned
intoanalmostimpassableexpanseofknee-deepmuck.Mud
mephitsandsteammephitsabound.ValleyofLostHonor
TheundeadhordesofRasNsiwipedoutatribeofChultansin
thisvalley.ThebonesofthefallenEshowearegone,along
