length,butencounterswithkoboldsandothermonstersare
likely.

13 .AudienceChamber

Thiscavelooksoutoveramuchlargercave.Hanging

frompegsatthebackoftheoverlookarefour

ferocious-lookingwoodenmasksandfourcapes

madeofscalydinosaurhidedyedbrightred.

WhenthekoboldshavetributeforTinderorneedthe
dragon’sadviceorapproval,theysendtheirfawning,
grovelingemissariestothisledgeoverlookingthedragon’slair.
Thekoboldsdontheceremonialwoodenmasksandcapes
beforeaddressingtheiroverlord.
Ifcharactersputonthemasksandcapesbeforepeering
intoarea 14 ,andtheymakethemselvesseemkobold-sized,
theyhaveachancetofoolthedragonintobelievingthey’re
kobolds,butit’seasytoslipup.First,thekoboldsspeakonly
Draconictothedragon.Second,theyfilltheirspeechwith
flatteryandoverblownhonorificssuchas“yourtitanic,blazing

Tinder,spendsmostofhertimehere,dozingatophertreasure
hoard.Otherwise,she’southuntingandterrorizingher
neighbors.Charactershaveimprovedchancestosneakupon
herfromarea 12 ,thankstotheloudwaterfallthere(either
theyhaveadvantageonStealthchecksorTinderhas
disadvantageonPerceptionchecks,whicheverismore
appropriatetothesituation).Thedragoncan’tbesurprisedif
koboldstriggeredthebouldertrapinarea 10 ,andshecan’t
missthesoundofanorecartrollingdownthetracksoraloud
spellgoingoffanywhereinthecomplex.

goblins.Thesegoblinswearstylizedwoodenantmasksand

marktheperimeteroftheirterritorywiththeheadsandskulls

oftheirenemies(humanoidsandbeasts).Inthiscontext,

“territory”referstoasinglehexonSyndraSilvane’smap.

Toprotectthemselvesagainstgiantcarnivores,thegoblins

builttheimportantstructuresofthevillageatopa“net”of

strong,suppletreebranchesboundtogetherwithvines.The

netisriggedtoaheavytree,bentdownlikeagiantspring.

Whenapredatorthreatenstooverrunthevillage,goblinscut

thevineandtheentirevillageisrolledintoaballandflunga
