Threecanoesarepulleduponthebankofthestream.


2 .Larder
Thegoblinsstorefreshmeat,fish,andotherperishablefoodin
thishut.Itdoesn’tgetlaunchedwiththerestofthevillage;in
caseofattack,thisfoodisleftbehindtokeepcarnivores
occupiedwhilethegoblinsescape.


3 .QueenGrabstab’sHut
Thequeen’shutisnolargerthantheothers,buttwogoblins
alwaysstandguardoutside.QueenGrabstab(agoblinboss)
andfourmoregoblins(heradultchildrenandattendants)are
inside,bickeringwithoneanotherovermattersthatconcern
onlythem.Oneofthequeen’sattendantsproudlywearsthe
keytothewoodencage(area 4 )onaloopofropearoundits
neck.
Treasure.Thequeenwearsabronzeandadamantine
medallionthathastheword“Vorn”etchedintoit.Thisisthe
controlamuletforashieldguardian(see“Vorn”).Noneofthe
goblinshaveanynotiontheamuletisrelatedtotheobjectthey
venerateasaminordeity.


4 .WoodenCage
Thislashed-togetherbamboocagecanholdanimalsor
prisoners,asthesituationdemands.Prisonersareseldom
ransomed,sincetheBatirihavenouseforcoin.Usually,
they’rekepthereuntilthegoblinsarereadytoeatthem.One
ofthegoblinsinarea 3 carriesthekeytothecage’scrude
padlock.Acharacterwiththieves’toolscanpickthelockwith
asuccessfulDC 11 Dexteritycheck.Thecheckismadewith
disadvantageifthecharacteristryingtopickthelockfrom
insidethecage.
5 .AntHills
ThisparticularBatiritribeisskilledatanthusbandry,andthe
villageissituatedbetweenthreeanthillsthatareeach 10 feet
acrossatthebaseandstand 8 feethigh.Thethreeanthillsare
joinedtogetherbytunnels.
Damagingordestroyingananthillcausessixantswarms
(swarmofinsects)toeruptfromanundergroundnest.Two
antswarmsemergefromeachhill.TheantsignoretheBatiri
goblinsandgoafteranythingelsetheydetectnearby.
6 .LaunchMechanism
Thebent-downtreethatlaunchesthevillageisanchoredat
thispoint.Thelaunchistriggeredbycuttingthethickvine,
whichhasAC 15 , 15 hitpoints,vulnerabilitytoslashing
damage,resistancetofireandpiercingdamage,andimmunity
tobludgeoning,poison,psychic,andthunderdamage.The
entiremechanismiswellcamouflagedtopreventintruders
fromsneakinginandlaunchingthevillageasasurpriseattack.
Acharacterwhogetsagoodlookatthevillageindaylightand
succeedsonaDC 18 Wisdom(Perception)checkspotsthe
networkofvinesandthebenttreeandrecognizesthemasa
