Chapter 4

Algebra

According to the test makers’ official breakdown, about 18 percent of Math 2 questions are algebra
questions. But that’s counting only the ones that are explicitly and primarily algebra questions. In
fact, almost all questions involve algebra. Most functions questions and coordinate geometry
questions are algebraic. Most plane geometry and solid geometry questions involve algebraic
formulas, and many use algebraic expressions for lengths and angle measures. Most word problems
are best solved algebraically. Algebra is fundamental to Math 2. You can’t get a good score without
it.
