Usually the best thing to do to start on a plane geometry question is to mark
up the figure. Put as much of the information into the figure as you can. That’s
a good way to organize your thoughts. And that way you don’t have to go
back and forth between the figure and the question.


Now you can plan your attack. First subtract from the whole length of

to get :


QS  =   PS  –   PQ  =   (2x +   12) –   (6x –   10) =   2x  +   12  –   6x  +   10  =   –4x +   22

Then, because R is the midpoint of , you can divide QS by 2 to get QR and
RS:
