Fernando Almena (b. 1943). His works are full of ironic humour, which adults may
consider criticism: Pocachicha, Un solo de clarinete and Tartesos, a historical novel. As a
playwright he was awarded a Prize in 1990 for his play El cisne [The Swan].
João Manuel Gisbert (b. 1949) received the CCEI Prize for his first book, Escenarios
fantásticos, [Fantastic Scenery], and the Lazarillo with El misterio de la isla de Tökland
[The Mystery of Tökland Island]. His works transport us to mysterious, far away worlds,
and to the world of dreams.
Many other authors deserve also to be mentioned: in poetry, Marina Romero, Concha
Lagos; in narrative prose: Juan Antonio de Laiglesia, Carlos Murciano, Juan Farias,
Pilar Molina, Juan Muñoz, Marta Osorio, Pilar Mateos, José Antonio del Cañizo,
Consuelo Armijo, Carmen Vázquez-Vigo and José González Torices. The last three have
also worked in drama, together with Juan Cervera, Luis Matilla and Ángeles Gasset.
