Universal first person

In general we use third person in literary analysis essays. However, there are times when first person
seems perfectly correct for the point we want to make. We use universal first person when we include
ourselves in all the masses who understand universal truths or themes. We’ll use “we” instead of “I” to
show our alliance in a common understanding or purpose. It may be appropriate to use the universal first
person point of view, especially in your essay’s conclusion if you extend your theme as something we all
know or should know.
