Remembering Lions

THE RESULTS ARE IN! Feast your eyes on the images chosen to appear in the next
Remembering Wildlife fundraising book series from Wildlife Photographers United

R

emembering Lions will be the fourth
book in the charity book series started
by wildlife photographer Margot Raggett
in 2016... and Digital Camera readers have
supplied 10 images to grace its pages, after
entering a competition in issue 215.
Margot decided to take action after seeing a
poached elephant in Kenya, and started asking
fellow wildlife photographers if they would
contribute images to a fundraising book – this
request launched the start of something special.
Remembering Elephants and its successors
Remembering Rhinos and Remembering Great
Apes have together raised more than £460,000
for conservation projects across Africa and
Asia. And with over 2,400 images entered
for Remembering Lions, more than £10,720
has been raised for lion conservation.
Remembering Lions will feature images from
wildlife photographers including Frans Lanting,
Marsel van Oosten and Art Wolfe – included under
the banner of ‘Wildlife Photographers United’ –
and 10 lucky readers of Digital Camera.

The foreword will be written by Jonathan and
Angela Scott. The Kickstarter to fund the book
has already smashed all previous targets,
so Remembering Lions could become
the biggest book in the series so far.

About the winning images
To be chosen to appear in Remembering Lions,
readers had to submit images of lions taken in
the wild (no zoos or sanctuaries) either in Africa
or India. The judges were looking for striking and
beautiful images, true to the original scene, with
nothing added or taken away. Editing should
have been kept to a minimum.
