10 WAYS TO BREAK THE RULES

For a more interesting result, why not try to fail and see what happens?

We’ve all taken photos using the wrong
settings, then just fixed the problem and
carried on shooting. But how about making
a deliberate mistake to produce a one-off
image? This fun shot of a dog on a lead works because
it includes the photographer. Whether or not it was
intentional, it takes the viewer behind the scenes of
the creation of this image – otherwise, this picture
would just be a dog on a lead photographed from above.
Other examples of deliberate mistakes you could make
include over- or under-exposure, accidentally using
flash or the wrong focus point.

RULE

(^10) How to get the shot...
To get this long shadow effect, shoot with
the sun behind you while it’s low in the sky
Inserting yourself in shots will work well when
you’re capturing predictable everyday scenes
Why not ‘photobomb’ yourself in other ways?
For example, try shooting through a window
and capturing your reflection in the process
