Human bones are composedof two important minerals: calcium and phosphorus. With the
help of these minerals, your body will develop and maintaina strong skeletal structure. It is
important to consumefoods that are rich in these minerals. Dairyproducts, such as milk,
cheese, yogurt, and ice cream are excellent sources.
Osteoporosisis a degenerativebone disease, resulting in a loss of bone tissue, that usually
affects maturewomen. But the disease can be prevented. Our bodies require a nutritiousdiet
and regular exercise. Young women should make a conscious effort to take a calcium
supplement and partakein a regular exercise program.
Doctors advise women to exercise at least three times a week. Running, jogging, jumping
rope, aerobics, dancing, cycling, skating, and swimming are all great aerobicactivities. It is
also important to include bone-strengthening anaerobicactivities in your exercise routine.
This combination of exercises will help build up your strength, muscle power, and flexibility.
Proper diet and exercise can lessen your chances of developing osteoporosis.
