To be a good detective, you have to know what facts
are important and not important to the case you’re
solving! So, ask yourself questions as you read.

Read the directions carefully and use the compass to trace a path that safely
leads Jungle Jim back to his hut.

Keep on the right path. Use all you know about
being a careful reader—that gets you where you
need to go.

While exploring the
wilds of Walla-Walla
in his jeep, a huge
storm washed out the
road that led directly
back to Jungle Jim’s
hut. Jim needs to find a safe path back
to his hut, using only his compass and
Eagle Ike’s directions.

  1. Drive east along the forest ofDirections
ferns until you arrive at Rock
Head (a big rock that looks like a
head.) Don’t turn toward the lake.

  2. Go south toward the ancient
    elephant burial grounds.

  3. Drive west under the waterfall.

  4. Drive north up the riverbank,
and your hut is facing south,
directly in front of the giant palm
tree, right where you left it!
