Beebee (2003), for example, argues that in certain common sorts of cases in which an
agent is intuitively able to do otherwise, the local miracle compatibilist is, after all,
committed to the causal notion of ability. Peter Graham (2008) responds to Beebee
on behalf of the compatibilist, but the issues here turn out to be complex and
challenging.
