From the beginning of pre-production, the production designer will begin
to create the look of the fi lm, from any building that will be constructed to
color schemes to fabric and furniture choices to landscaping and everything
design oriented that will be created for the motion picture. Production
designers must take into account many factors, starting with reading the
script and then analyzing the full context of the motion picture including
budget, genre, and tone. For example, designers working on fi lms set in the
