a smooth and successful completion of the work. If these steps are
taken correctly, each member of the team is responsible for the work
assigned directly to him or her and each task will contribute to the
completion of the movie.
C. Post-Production Guidelines – Th e completed short should be
between fi ve to twelve minutes. Th e director will serve as editor for
the project, although collaborative editing teams can be proposed.

Exercise Work – Write a minimum of three paragraphs describing your
work on this project. Use the following questions to guide your analysis of
your own work.


  1. Was your pre-production eff ective? In what ways were you unprepared
    for the logistics or challenging situations of the shoot?

  2. In what ways were the diff erent contributions of crew members
    eff ective in adding to the production value and artistic qualities of
    the fi nal product?

  3. Was the story brought to the screen appropriately from its script
    form? Did the structure of the actions in the narrative translate well
    to the overall depiction of the story?

  4. Once the edit was complete, was the style and pace of the completed
    motion picture a refl ection of the feel of the original script? If not,
    describe the diff erences. Were improvements made during shooting
    or post-production? Explain key decisions in the movement from
    script to production to edit.

  5. Evaluate the overall eff ectiveness of the motion picture. Take into
    account art direction, cinematography, sound recording and design,
    editing, and overall creation of a world on the screen.
