    tracts and documents (among them the libroni—internal ledgers of the Ricordi
    firm), and full discussion of their context. The publisher Lucca was a competi-
    tor of Ricordi’s, engaged by Verdi for three operas when he and Ricordi were
    out of sorts. Among the interesting aspects of this study is information about
    Verdi’s working habits. No index.
