Cities and Regions


The only works cited are those devoted to opera, but some information on opera will
be found in the more generalized city and regional histories identified in IOMv.2.
Treatises on the stage history of particular cities are often useful for operatic studies;
citations are given in IOMand in GRB.


Boston


Boston had an unsteady operatic history until the foundation in 1958 of the Opera
Company of Boston, under Sarah Caldwell.
