The San Francisco Opera was founded in 1923; since 1932 its home has been the War
Memorial Opera House.

    Not seen. Kaufmansays it is a history, with no chronologies.

  2. Jennings, Harlan. “Grand Opera in St. Louis in 1886: A Champion Season?”
    OQ10-3 (1994): 131–143.
    Mapleson’s company had its eighth and last season in the city. Herman Grau’s
    troupe was also there in 1886, with a week of German opera, featuring artists
    from the Met. The American Opera Company, directed by Theodore Thomas,
    was also performing. There were controversies and uproars over all three
    groups.
