  1. Gallo, Fortune. Lucky Rooster.New York: Exposition, 1967. 304p. ML429
    .G153 A3.
Gallo (whose name means “rooster” in Italian) founded the San Carlo Touring
Company in 1909. His autobiography is not very informative about that
important organization, being a tiresome gathering of anecdotes and invented
conversations. No notes, index, or other reference features.

  2. Gatti-Casazza, Giuilio. Memories of the Opera.New York: Scribner, 1941. xii,
326p. Reprint, New York: Vienna House, 1973. ISBN 0-9443-0022-5 (Vienna).
    ML429 .G17 A3.
The significant contributions of Gatti-Casazza to the establishment of the Met
as a world-esteemed company remain to be adequately documented. His own
account of that career (1908–1935) is vague and chatty, with invented conver-
sations and too few facts. No notes, no bibliography. Index of names, titles,
    and topics.

New York: Atheneum, 1978. xiii, 272p. No ISBN. MT955 .H53.

interesting that the conductor, John Pritchard, did not appear on the scene
until after Hall had done all the preliminary work. With index. The next item
    is similar.

Décor et mise en scène(Paris: Vilo, 1977). Hartmann achieved world recogni-
tion for his productions at Munich, 1938–1967, and later in other European
houses. This is a general essay on stage design, followed by illustrated accounts
of specific productions dating from 1962 to 1976. Fine pictures; comments by
other stage artists and producers. Appendix data on theaters he has worked in,
from a production viewpoint. Bibliography of about 50 titles, no index.

  7. Hartmann, Rudolf. Richard Strauss: The Staging of His Operas and Ballets.

    520251-1. MT955 .H3332.

pictures. Bibliography of about 50 items, name and place index.
