a specific quilting project. Whenwe
were designing our Airstream, we
had the luxury of building space
specifically for storing everythingfor
Vacilando. Everything I use daily
goes in giant drawers at my desk,
there’s a basket under my deskwith
fabric I use regularly, and then
everything else (scraps, a roll of
batting, sample quilts, leftover
fabric) is stored under our bed.Is your photography something
you've spent a long time perfecting?
I got really lucky and married an
amazing photographer. He’s always
done my quilt and product
photography, which I’m so, so
grateful for. Our style has developed
naturally over the years throughtrial
and error, trying a bunch of weird
stuff, figuring out what works and
what doesn’t, and finding the best
spot for an epic quilt shot. It also
doesn’t hurt that we travel full time
and regularly find ourselves in
beautiful landscapes – seekingout
a great backdrop for a quilt is
something I try and do in every

Shortlyafterreleasingmyfirstquilt
pattern,I wasapproachedbyPage
StreetPublishing.Theyfoundmy
workthroughEtsy(ofallplaces),
lovedmystyleandthoughtI could
providea freshvoice.Writinga book
wasn'tsomethingI plannedondoing
untila fewmoreyearsdownthe
road,butI couldn'tpassupsuchan
excitingopportunity!I wantedto
sharemynon-traditionalstyleand
incorporatetheinspirationI getfrom
travelling,butat thebook'score,
I wantedtoteachreadershowto
makea quiltfromstarttofinishand
givethemthetoolsandconfidence
tocreatetheirownuniquequilts.
Theexperiencewasincredibly
challenging,butit'smademea
betterdesigner,writerandteacher
andI'mreallyexcitedtobesharing
