Moving on to the pinks and reds, I begin
searching for bright coral-red fabrics. Alison
Glass’ Ace in Mira is a perfect fit with its
simple, linear motifs and golden yellow
accents, while Underwater in Flame by
Elizabeth Hartman for Robert Kaufman
provides a wonderfully organic design. As for
the pinks, I choose Sketch in Candy by
Timeless Treasures and Raindrops in Azalea by
Me+You for their bright magenta hue.
I decide to pull a single green print to
accent the leaves in the barkcloth. I don’t want
to overwhelm this bundle with tons of green,
as I want the bold, bright colours to do most
of the talking. I find the perfect shade in
Carolyn Friedlander’s The Jumble in Fern.
Lastly, I want to pull a few neutral tones to
give my bundle a nice balance of colour and
contrast. I select Illuminated Graph in Metallic
Fog by Anna Maria Horner for FreeSpirit
Fabrics with its gorgeous hints of metallic
shine, as well as Robert Kaufman’s Essex Yarn
Dyed in Flax. While the barkcloth provides
plenty of texture on its own, I can’t resist
adding just a bit more. XOXO in Chocolate
Chip by Cotton+Steel adds a touch of
low-volume interest, and I round out my
bundle with Boxed in Black by Erin Dollar for
Robert Kaufman.
I’m left with a beautiful bundle that will
remind me not just of my visits to our local
conservatory, but also that inspiration is all
around us. We just have to open our eyes.
