GETTING STARTED
If you do not have it already, you should get a copy of the Specialized High Schools Student Handbook. This is published by the
Department of Education and is available on the website at schools.nyc.gov (look for the link in the “Choices & Enrollment”
section) and should also be available in your son or daughter’s guidance office. Get this handbook early and spend some time
reading through it. Additionally, it’s worth your while to do a little research into the individual schools. Take some time to learn the
features and strengths of each.
