If a problem gives you the value for a variable, just plug the value into the equation and solve. Make sure that you follow the rules of
PEMDAS and are careful with your calculations.

If x = 15 and y = 10, what is the value of 4 x(x − y)?

Plug 15 in for x and 10 in for y.

Then solve.

4(15)(15 − 10) =

(60)(5) = 300
