  1. (E) The psychoanalytic perspective was popular at the turn of the twentieth century in Western
    Europe. The neuroscience, evolutionary, and cognitive perspectives had yet to capture most
    people’s interest, largely because of the lack of technological resources to study people from these
    perspectives. While the behaviorist perspective was beginning to gain followers in the United
    States during this time, Western Europeans remained more interested in Freud’s psychoanalytic
    approach.
