  1. (C) Information from the optic nerve is initially processed in the thalamus, in the lateral geniculate
    nucleus (LGN). From the thalamus, information is sent to the primary visual cortex in the occipital
    lobe. The hypothalamus, hippocampus, and cerebellum are not thought to play a large role in the
    early processing of visual information.
