Pampas
Its acres of grassland mean
the pampas attracts a lot of
wildlife, particularly birds.
Some, like the flightless
Darwin’s rhea, graze on
plants. It also eats frogs
and insects that might
be hiding in the grass.
Patagonian steppe
Shared between Argentina and southern
Chile, the warm, dry Patagonian steppe
is filled with shrubs as well as grasses.
It makes a good home for mammals,
ranging from tiny rodents to foxes
and mountain lions.
Andes
Although parts are warm
with plenty of plants, the
Andean mountains are
mostly full of high, rugged
places. Animals need to be
tough and adaptable to live
here. Flamingos, for example,
can manage to find food
in even the saltiest lakes.
