2 multicolor large fl oral strips, 1 large

cram fl oral strip, 1 cream small foral

strip, and 1 white small fl oral, make

1 band C as shown in Diagram III-A.

Cut bands into 4 ̋-wide segments to

make 10 unit5’s.

Setaside8 unit5’sandusing remain-

ing2 unit5’s,pickapartseams to

removepatchesas shownto make

2 unit6’s(DiagramIII-B).

4 Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for

following steps, watching unit place-

ment and orientation. Arrange A’s and

units in vertical rows as shown. Sew

rows together.

5 Join white border 2 ̋ strips and cut to

size shown in Assembly Diagram.

Matching centers and ends, sew bor-

der side strips to quilt. Repeat to add

border top and bottom strips.

In same way, join dark blue 2 ̋ side

borders and 3½ ̋ top and bottom

borders; sew to quilt.

6 Layer, baste, and quilt. Naomi machine

quilted butterfl ies across the quilt

surface. Bind the quilt.

Cut

Patches are lettered in order of use.
Cut largest patches fi rst. Measurements
include ¼ ̋ seam allowances. Border
strips will be pieced and cut to exact
length needed. You may want to make
them longer to allow for piecing varia-
tions.

Sew

1 Referring to Diagram I, join

2 white small fl oral strips,

2 multicolor large fl oral strips, and

1 multicolor medium fl oral strip in

order shown to make band A. Cut into

4”-widesegments to make 8 unit 1’s.

1 multicolor mediumfloralstrip,

1 dark blue tone-on-tonestrip,

1 blue fl oral strip,1 lightbluetone-on-

tone strip, and1 multicolormedium

fl oral strip, make3 bandB’sasshown.

Cut bands into4 ̋-widesegmentsto

make 30 unit2’s.

Set aside 22 unit2’sanduse remaining

8 unit 2’s, pick apart seams to remove

patches as shown to make 4 unit 3’s

and 4 unit 4’s (Diagram II-B).
