gray print D’s, make17 block Z’s
total (Diagram I-B).
2 Note:RefertoAssemblyDiagram for
following steps, watching block place-
ment and orientation. Sew 7 rows of
5 blocks each. Join rows together.
3 Refer to Borders in Quilt Basics. Join
gray border 1 strips and cut to sizes
shown in Assembly Diagram. Match-
ing centers and ends, sew border side
strips to quilt. Repeat to add border
top and bottom strips.
4 Join 65½ ̋ border 2 strips to sides of
quilt. Join yellow print D’s to each end
of 47½ ̋ border 2 strips and then add
strips to top and bottom quilt.
5 Layer, baste, and quilt. Nancy machine
quilted an atom motif across the quilt
surface. Bind the quilt.
Cut
Patches are lettered in order of use. Cut
largest patches fi rst. Measurements in-
clude ¼ ̋ seam allowances. Border strips
will be pieced and cut to exact length
needed. You may want to make them
longer to allow for piecing variations.

6 strips 1½ ̋ x WOF for border 1
68 squares 3½ ̋ (D) - Border print*
2 strips 3½ ̋ x 65½ ̋ for border 2
2 strips 3½ ̋ x 47½ ̋ for border 2 - Yellow print
7 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF for binding
4 squares 3½ ̋ (D)

Sew
1 Refer to Diagram I-A for the following
steps. Join matched sets of assorted
small print B’s and C’s to assorted
large print A as shown.
Sew a blue print D to each corner
as shown. Trim corners and press to
