Your charity knits...
It's always great seeing what you've been knitting for those in need.
We love to see your charity knits, so keep sending them in!
LITTLE HEARTS
I have been knitting hearts, bears,
rabbits and hedgehogs to support Little
Hearts of Care – items are knitted and
left in random places for people to find.
It can bring a smile to anyone who is
going through a tough time, and it gives
a message that you’re not alone. It's a
newly formed project that is bringing
happiness to all those involved, and the
people who find the knitted items. The
designs are easily knitted and they are a
great way of using scrap pieces of fibre
from yarn that I have left over. It only
takes just over a hour or so to knit the
rabbits and bears, and the hearts and
hedgehogs don’t take much longer.
You can find Little Hearts of Care on
Facebook @LittleHeartsOfCare.

JOY OF KNITTING
I’ve used a chunky wool to knit a dark pink
bolero based on designer Louisa Harding‘s
shrug pattern from Issue 150 of Simply
Knitting. I have knitted for the church craft
stall, and all the toys I have loved making
have been sold at Christmas fairs. Over
the past few years I’ve knitted trauma
teddies, twiddle mu s and baby blankets
for various charities. One of the churches
in town has been collecting knitted
poppies to create a cascade of poppies.
which hung from the church tower.

BEANIE BABIES
I recently made 14 beanie hats in this
particular design (below) for the Royal
Free Hospital in London. The colour is
very important as it has to be a special
colour recognised by the hospital sta in
order to identity special care babies with
extra needs. It is known as a tra c-light
system and knitted hats are a basic, yet
essential, item in the care of babies.
