m athem atics teacher, a n d he w a s a m athem atics supervisor fo r five years. Dr. C h a rle s has b een

solving. He has authored more than 9 0 mathematics textbooks for kindergarten through college.

Dan Kennedy, Ph.D., is a classroom teacher a nd the Lupton Distinguished Professor o f M ath em atics at
the B a y lo r S cho ol in C h a tta n o o g a , Tennessee. A fre qu en t s p e a k e r a t profe ssio na l m eetings on the
sub ject o f m athem atics e d u c a tio n reform, Dr. K en n ed y has c o n d u c te d m ore than 5 0 w o rks h o p s a n d

Basia Hall currently serves as M a n a g e r of Instructional Programs for the Houston Independent
S cho ol District. W ith 3 3 yea rs o f te a c h in g e x p e rie n ce , M s. H a ll has served as a d e p a rtm e n t chair,
instructional supervisor, school im provem ent facilitator, a nd professional develo pm e n t trainer. She
has developed curricula for A lge b ra 1, G eom etry, and A lgebra 2 and co-developed the Texas
