13.9 (a) Molecular Structure of Gene :
Chemically gene is formed of DNA. If consists of following parts :
(i) Recon : It is the smallest unit of DNA capable of undergoingcrossing over and recombination.
(ii) Muton : It is also the smallest unit of DNA capable of undergoingmutation.
(iii) Cistron : It is a gene is real sense, which consists of number of
nucleotides and which is capable of
synthesizing a polypeptide chain of enzymes.
(iv) Replicon : It is a unit of replication.
