88 Fables and Stories: Supplemental Guide 5A | The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
Word Work: Disguise
- In the read-aloud you heard, “Then [the wolf] strolled among the flock
 in this disguise.”
- Say the word disguise with me three times.
- When someone wears a disguise, he or she puts on clothing or
changes his/her appearance in other ways to look like someone or
 something else.
- The disguise Anna wears does not matter; everyone will know it’s her
 because she is so tall.
- Why do you think people would wear a disguise? Tell your partner
what you think. [Ask two or three students. If necessary, guide and/or
rephrase students’ responses: “People wear a disguise to.. .”]
- What’s the word we’ve been talking about?
Use a Making Choices activity for follow-up. Directions: If what I say is
an example of a disguise, stand up and say, “That’s a disguise.” If what
I say is not an example of a disguise, stay seated and say, “That’s not a
 disguise.”
