Word Work: Bare
- In the read-aloud you heard, “During the wintertime, deciduous trees
have bare branches.” - Say the word bare with me three times.
- When something is bare, it is not covered. When something is bare, it
is empty, nothing is in it. - A desk that is bare has nothing in it or on it.
If you are not wearing socks and shoes, your feet are bare.
A bear without any fur is a bare bear. - Tell your partner what you think of when you hear the word bare.
[Ask two or three students. If necessary, guide and/or rephrase the
students’ responses: “When I hear the word bare I think of... ”] - What’s the word we’ve been talking about?
Use a Making Choices activity for follow-up. Directions: I am going to
