  • Say to students: “Tell your partner how the lives of Johnny Appleseed
and George Washington Carver were similar and how they were
    different.”

    • Johnny Appleseed and George Washington Carver were similar because
both of them loved plants and planted plants. Johnny Appleseed and
George Washington Carver were different because Johnny wandered
from place to place, but George lived on a farm; Johnny planted apple
seeds, but George planted a garden; Johnny played the violin, but
      George painted.
