Canadian governments (at all levels) collect over $844 billion from
various sources, representing over 39 percent of GDP. These data show
total tax revenues for all levels of government combined. Notice that
Canadian governments have considerable revenue, almost $150 billion in
2017, from non-tax sources.

At just over 39 percent of GDP, Canada lies roughly in the middle of
other developed countries in terms of total government revenues as a
share of GDP. Among the major industrialized countries, Denmark and
Norway collect over 55 percent of GDP in taxes and non-tax revenues.
