CHAPTER 17 ■ DC MOTORS
Moving Forward
Hopefully you’ve now been exposed to enough information about DC brush and gearhead motors to get a
sense for their characteristics. There are other varieties of motors common to robotics, such as stepper and
servo motors. Although useful in their own ways, they weren’t covered in this text simply because they aren’t
necessary for the robot featured in this book.
In the next chapter, you’ll complete your primary education on DC motors by actually attaching them to
the line-following circuit.
