The NCAA has developed a sliding scale in order to
accommodate variations in GPA in combination with either
the SAT or ACT scores you achieve. The sliding scale can be
located in your NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-
Athlete. To be current with any academic eligibility rule, log
on to http://www.ncaa.com/NCAA/student/index/student.html and
check out the list.
Division II schools have no sliding scale. To be eligible at
D-II institutions:
- You must earn a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in 14 courses in
the core curriculum; and - You must earn a combined score of 820 on the reading
and math portions of the SAT or a composite score of 68
on the ACT.
Division III has no eligibility requirements.
NCAA early Certification
If, by the end of your sixth semester
(end of your junior year), you meet
the following academic criteria, you
can be awarded early certification by
the NCAA Initial Eligibility Center.
- 1000 SAT score (composite of
reading and math sections) - 86 ACT score
- 3.0 average in the NCAA Core
