Student athletes, parents, and high-school coaches must
overcome the understandable urge
to oversell the potential, achieve-
ments, statistics, and coachability
of a prospect. However, some “sell-
ing” should take place in your cover
letter, which will be covered in the
next chapter.
Recruiters and coaches have expe-
rienced many snow jobs and are alert
for them. Most coaches will check
the accuracy of the information you
have provided if they sense that you
are trying to deceive them.
Your profile should contain the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number (include area code)
- Email address
- High school
- Enrollment
- Conference
- High-school phone number
- Date of birth
- Height/weight
- 40-meter-dash time (depending on sport)
- Bench press (depending on sport)
- Squat (depending on sport)
- Vertical jump (depending on sport)
