Coach’s scouting evaluation: Joe’s greatest strength is an ability to
concentrate on relaxing when he is in pain at the end of a race.
While other runners are tying up, he is able to maintain good run-
ning mechanics, often edging out competitors who are stronger
than him. He has learned to run very tactical, smart races, often
deceiving his opponents and then surging past them and break-
ing their will at critical points in the race. “Joe is an athlete who
knows what he wants to do in track, does whatever it takes to
prepare to accomplish his goals, and leaves nothing of himself at
the end of a race. His determination to win is inspiring.” He needs
to continue increasing his distance base and weight lifting to get
even stronger, especially in the upper body.

His coach and your recruiter project him to be a Division II 800M
& cross-country prospect.
