replenishes the earth’s water supply.) - After hearing today’s read-aloud and questions and answers,
do you have any remaining questions? [If time permits, you
may wish to allow for individual, group, or class research of
the text and/or other resources to answer these questions.]
Word Work: Precipitation 5 minutes
- In the read-aloud you heard, “When water droplets fall to
the ground, regardless of what they look like, this is called
precipitation.” - Say the word precipitation with me.
- Precipitation is water that falls from the sky in the form of rain,
snow, sleet, or hail. - The farmer had to water his garden because there had been
no precipitation for a month. - What is your favorite and/or least favorite kind of
precipitation? Be sure to explain why. Try to use the word
precipitation when you tell about it. [Ask two or three
students. If necessary, guide and/or rephrase the students’
responses: “My favorite kind of precipitation is... ”] - What’s the word we’ve been talking about?
