The Past-Tense Ending –ed
Most verbs can be changed from the present to the past tense by adding
the suffix –ed.

I plant I
Sometimes the –ed suffix is sounded /e/ + /d/, as it is in the words you just
made. But sometimes it is sounded /d/.
