100 Early Asian Civilizations: Supplemental Guide 5A | The Blind Men and the Elephant

Purpose for Listening

Remind students that they will hear a poem called, “The Blind Men and

the Elephant.” Give students Response Card 4 (The Blind Men and the

Elephant) and have them point out the six men and the six parts of the

elephant the men are next to. Tell students to listen carefully to hear if

any of the class predictions are correct.

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

 Demonstrate familiarity with the poem, “The Blind Men and the

Elephant”

 Describe the characters, plot, and setting of the poem, “The Blind

Men and the Elephant”
