  • Tell students: “I will say a fact. Your job is to tell me if the fact is
    about a king/queen, a president, or both. Then I will write down the
    information on the Venn diagram.”
    Note: Explain that you are going to write down what students say.
    Remind students that they are not expected to be able to read what
    you write, because they are still learning all the rules for decoding.
    Emphasize that you are writing what they say so that you don’t forget.
    Tell them that you will read the words to them.
