    pattern in the object you are showing.]

  3. What’s the word we’ve been talking about?
    Use a Hands On activity for follow-up. Directions: We are going to
    make a pattern with these blocks [or name of other manipulative.] I
    will start the pattern with these blocks. [Choose three blocks of two to
    three different shapes (or colors) and place them in front of the class.]
    To make a pattern, these shapes (or colors) must repeat in the same
    order. Which block should come next?
    Now with your partner, make your own pattern with your blocks.
    [Assist students as needed to create a repeating pattern.]
