Domain Review (Instructional Master DR-1)
Note: This activity should be completed in conjunction with the
Westward Expansion Timeline.
Directions: Each picture represents an event during westward
expansion. I will say a sentence about each event and point to
the event on the Timeline. Then I will help you fi nd the picture of
that event on your worksheet. After we have identifi ed each event,
number the events in chronological order. For example, write a
number ‘1’ in the box of the event that happened fi rst. Write a
number ‘6’ in the box of the event that happened last.


  1. Robert Fulton invented a steamboat, the Clermont, to travel
    up and down the Hudson River. (1)

  2. The opening of the Erie Canal joined the Atlantic Ocean to
