Word Work: Cooperate 5 minutes



  1. In the read-aloud you heard, “We gather and share food, build
    nests together, cooperate to raise our young, and help protect
    one another from enemies.”

  2. Say the word cooperate with me.

  3. Cooperate means to work together for the good of everyone
    involved.

  4. My family and I all cooperate with each other to prepare our
    evening meal.

  5. Tell me of a time you and your classmates had to cooperate
    with one another to accomplish something. Try to use the word
    cooperate when you tell about it. [Ask two or three students. If
    necessary, guide and/or rephrase the students’ responses: “One
    time my classmates and I had to cooperate was when... ”]
