Recording Chart. For this type of informal observation, you should
give a score of zero, five, or ten based on your evaluation of students’
understanding and language use.

  • Have students talk with their partner about the differences between
    nursery rhymes and fables.

  • You may wish to go over characteristics of nursery rhymes and fables
    with the class.

  • They can use this time to retell their favorite nursery rhyme or retell a
    fable.
    Some words or phrases to listen for:

  • Nursery rhymes, poem, or a specific title of a nursery rhyme

  • Fables, stories, or a specific title of a fable

  • Rhyming

  • Characters

  • Moral
